Shingle Peak is a hard hike in Colorado's White River National Forest, within the Eagle Ranger District. The route is an out-and-back of about 16 miles, with a total elevation gain of 2,248 feet, starting at a low point of 8,281 feet and reaching a high of 11,185 feet. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is natural-surfaced and open to horses. The trip begins at Hilltop Trailhead, and the trail is open year-round. Bikes are not allowed. The Old Turret Creek Trail lies less than a mile away, and the Sweetwater and Turret Creek mountain biking areas are each about a mile off. Sweetwater Lake Recreation Area, about 3 miles away, offers camping.
