Comanche Lake is an easy out-and-back hike of about 2.3 miles in Colorado's Comanche Peak Wilderness, part of the Canyon Lakes Ranger District of the Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forests. The route runs from a low point of about 9,567 feet to a high of about 9,982 feet, with a total elevation gain of about 390 feet. The Forest Service manages the land. The trail is natural-surface and allows horses, but not bikes. Summer is the most comfortable time to go, with typical July highs around 74°F and lows near 43°F, based on averages from a nearby weather station at a similar elevation. Winter is cold, with typical January highs near 31°F. The trail is open year-round. Beaver Creek is about 0.8 miles away, and Hourglass is about 1.6 miles away. For an overnight stay, Long Draw Campground is about 7.3 miles off, and Big South Campground is about 7.9 miles away.
