Master Boulder is a bouldering area in Joshua Tree National Park in California, managed by the National Park Service. It sits among a cluster of other climbing spots, with The Manure Pile and Ryan Campground Bouldering each about 0.1 mile away and Facet Boulder about 0.2 mile off. The area is a compact, close-together set of boulders rather than a single route, and it works well as a stop on a day spent exploring the park's climbing. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Yucca Valley show April highs around 73°F and October highs around 80°F, while July and August average about 96°F. That station sits roughly 1,000 feet lower than the boulders, so temperatures at the rock run cooler. The routes here are all boulders, and they range from V0 to V8. Gibbs Arete and Lip Encounter 1 are both V0, and Dreaming of the Master is the hardest at V8. Ryan Ranch Trailhead is about 0.4 mile away for a hike, and Sheep Pass Group campground is about 2.4 miles off.
