Hoi Polloi Boulder is a bouldering area in Joshua Tree National Park in California, managed by the National Park Service. It sits among several other named boulders, including Seven Grain Boulder, Maverick Boulder and Stonehenge Boulders, all within about a tenth of a mile, and is close to the Cap Rock hike and the Ryan Ranch Trailhead. The climbing here is all bouldering, with seven routes in the area. Grades range from V0- to V8, and the most common is V2. The Hoi Polloi route itself is V0, and Finger Fetish is V8. A few of the routes, like Prince Fari and Finger Fetish, have recorded first ascents. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Yucca Valley show April highs around 73°F and October highs around 80°F, while July and August average about 96°F. That station sits roughly 1,000 feet lower than the boulders, so temperatures on the rock run cooler. A fee is charged for park use. For more time in the park, Sheep Pass Group campground is about 2.5 miles away, and the California Riding and Hiking Trail passes within about 0.7 miles.
