Majong Boulder is a bouldering area in California's Desolation Wilderness, within the Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit. The Forest Service manages the land, and the boulders sit right beside the Pacific Crest Trail, about a tenth of a mile away. The climbing here is all bouldering, with five routes spread across a range of grades from V0- to V7. The easiest is Netherite, and the hardest is Redstone Undercling. The median grade is V2, so the area works for climbers of different abilities. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Dagget Pass, Nevada, show July highs around 75°F with lows near 49°F, and only about two wet days a month from June through September. That station sits roughly 1,100 feet lower than the boulders, so temperatures on the rock run cooler. The Upper Velma Lakes Trail starts less than a mile away, and Whiskey Cliff / Eagle Creek Cliff and Eagle Lake Cliff are both within about 2 miles. For an overnight base, Bayview Campground is about 3 miles off.
