Mayhem Cove is a sport climbing area in California's Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit, managed by the Forest Service. It sits within a cluster of climbing and hiking close to the Eagle Falls trail, and its sport routes range from about 5.9 to 5.13. The most comfortable months for a visit are July and August, when typical averages at a nearby weather station run from about 76 to 77°F for highs and 46°F for lows. That station sits a few hundred feet lower than the cove, so temperatures at the crag itself run slightly cooler. The area has 32 routes, all sport, with grades from 5.9 up to 5.13. Notable climbs include Car Jacker (5.9), Black Rain (5.13a) and Kyle's Face (5.13). The 90 Foot Wall and Eagle Creek Canyon climbing areas are both within a few tenths of a mile. Eagle Falls Vista and the Eagle Falls trail are just 0.1 mile away. Bayview Campground is about a mile off, and Fallen Leaf Campground is roughly 4 miles away.
