Crystal Wall Area is a climbing area in California's Eldorado National Forest, within the Pacific Ranger District. The Forest Service manages the land, and the area sits among several other climbing spots, with the Nap Wall Area and Slick Rock Slab both about 0.1 mile away. The climbing here is a mix of sport and trad routes, with 12 routes in total. The grades run from 5.5 to 5.10a, and the median is 5.8. Sport routes include Crystal Blue Persuasion at 5.7 and Red Dawn at 5.9, while the trad route Friction Affliction is 5.7 and was first climbed in 1980 by Bob Branscomb, Kim Treadaway and M. Brownell. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from the nearby Tahoma weather station, which sits about 630 feet lower, show July highs around 77°F with lows near 46°F, while winter highs stay in the upper 30s. Paddlers can find Big Silver Creek about a mile away, and Bassi Falls is roughly 2.9 miles off. Wrights Lake campground is about 3.8 miles away.
