The Brickyard is a bouldering area in California's Los Padres National Forest, within the Santa Barbara Ranger District. The Forest Service manages the surrounding land, and the climbing is all on boulders rather than on longer rock faces. The boulders are close together, with Rat Boulder and Sightings Boulder each about 0.1 mile away. The boulders here range from V0- up to V6-, so climbers of all experience levels can find a route that fits them. Among the named ones are Buzzzz at V0- and House Blend at V0, along with Moderate Extremist at V1 and Single Shot at V2. The hardest listed is Pipeline? aka the Kiser Problem at V6-. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to visit. Typical averages from the nearby Gibraltar Dam weather station, which sits about 1,200 feet lower, show May highs around 80°F with lows near 46°F, and November highs around 73°F with lows near 40°F. July and August are the hottest, with highs typically in the mid-90s. For a change from bouldering, Fremont Campground is about 4 miles away, and Paradise Campground is just beyond it. The Rattlesnake Trail is also about 4 miles off.
