The Belafonte climbing area sits in the Santa Barbara Ranger District of Los Padres National Forest in California, managed by the Forest Service. It is a climbing area, and two other climbing spots, Bob's Ground Up Boulder and Owl Farm, lie about 0.1 mile away, so it works well as a base for exploring the cluster of bouldering and climbing in this corner of the forest. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show April highs around 76°F and October highs around 83°F, while July and August average in the mid-90s. That station sits about 1,100 feet lower than the climbing area, so temperatures here run cooler. For an overnight stay, Fremont Campground is about 4 miles away, and Paradise Campground is about 4.1 miles away. The Rattlesnake Trail is about 4.2 miles off, and Sage Hill offers saltwater fishing at about 4.8 miles.
