The Beach is a trad climbing area in California's John Muir Wilderness, within the Mt. Whitney Ranger District of Inyo National Forest. The Forest Service manages the land, and the area sits among a cluster of wilderness routes and hikes, with the Whitney Trailhead Walk In Campground about half a mile away. The climbing here is all trad, with 16 routes spread across a range from 5.9+ to 5.12a. The median grade is 5.10b, and the hardest route is Tree Line at 5.12a. Some of the named routes include Banana Hammock (5.9+), Manta Ray (5.10a) and Holy Handgrenade (5.10b). The Beach, Right Side and Candlelight Buttress are other climbing areas within about half a mile. North Fork Lone Pine Creek is a hike just 0.2 miles away, and Mount Carillon is a hike at 0.4 miles.
