Little Lake is an easy, out-and-back hike of about 1.4 miles in California's Dinkey Lakes Wilderness, within the High Sierra Ranger District of Sierra National Forest. The trail is managed by the Forest Service, and it rises about 407 feet from a low point of 9,216 feet to a high point of 9,634 feet. The trail is natural-surfaced and open year-round. It is not an accessible trail, and bicycles are not allowed. Horses are. The surrounding land is wilderness, so plan on a remote outing. The hike pairs easily with other outings in the area. Island Lake and Dogtooth are both about 0.3 miles away. Climbers can head to the Western Sierra climbing area, about 3.5 miles off, and paddlers can find Helms Creek, roughly 3.7 miles away.
