Bullfrog Lake is a 3-mile out-and-back hike in the Dinkey Lakes Wilderness, part of the High Sierra Ranger District of Sierra National Forest in California. The trail is managed by the Forest Service and rated hard, with a one-way climb of about 913 feet from a low point of roughly 8,500 feet to a high of about 9,420 feet. The route is natural-surface and allows horses, but not bikes. It is not an accessible trail. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Mammoth Lakes show July highs around 78°F with lows near 49°F, and the station sits about 1,600 feet below the trail, so temperatures on the lake run cooler. The Bullfrog Lake Trail starts just 0.1 mile away, and the Dinkey Lakes mountain biking area is about 0.3 mile off. Helms Creek, a canoeing spot, is about 2.8 miles away, and Voyager Rock campground is about 4.8 miles away.
