Duck Lake is a 7.2-mile out-and-back hike in the Scott River Ranger District of Klamath National Forest in California. The trail climbs from about 4,386 feet to 6,284 feet, a total gain of 1,875 feet, and is rated hard. The Forest Service manages the land. The route is a natural-surface trail that starts at a lower elevation and rises steadily to the high point before returning. Because of the climb and the distance, plan on a full day for this hike. Several other destinations sit close by. Horse Range Creek and Paynes Lake are within a mile, and Horseshoe is about a mile and a quarter away. For an overnight stay, Idlewild Campground is roughly 7 miles off.
