Twisted Hickory Trail is an easy 2.6-mile out-and-back hike in the Buffalo Ranger District of the Ozark-St. Francis National Forest in Arkansas. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is open year-round. The route gains about 447 feet in total, with a high point of 2,090 feet and a low of 1,899 feet. The steepest stretch comes around mile 1, where the grade reaches about 12 percent. Bikes are allowed, but horses are not. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Kingston put May highs around 72°F and October highs around 67°F, while July and August average about 85°F. Several other trails sit close by. Sidewinder Trail and Zeester Trail are each about 0.6 miles away, and Azalea Falls Trail is about 0.8 miles off.
