The Roost Area is a climbing area in Arizona on county land within a proposed open space. It sits among several other climbing areas, including Talon's Grip Area, Penguinland Area and The Face of God, all about 0.1 mile away. The land is managed by the county, and the area is part of a cluster of climbing spots rather than a single route. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to visit. Typical averages from the nearby Superior weather station show April highs around 78°F and October highs around 84°F, while July and August average near 99°F. That station sits about 1,400 feet lower than the climbing area, so temperatures up high run cooler. The area has 13 routes, with trad climbing making up seven of them and sport climbing three. Grades range from 5.9- to 5.13, with Raptor's Roost at 5.13 and Ptarmigan Cling at 5.11- as two of the harder options. Free Bird and Beak n Chains are among the easier routes. Oak Flat campground is about 2.6 miles away, and the Legends of Superior Trail is about 3.1 miles off. Arnett Canyon Trail #218 and Telegraph Canyon Trail are both within about 5 miles.
