Myth Wall

Myth Wall is a climbing area in the Superstition Wilderness, part of the Mesa Ranger District of Tonto National Forest in Arizona. The Forest Service manages the land, and the area sits within designated wilderness. The climbing here is a mix of trad and sport routes, with 12 routes in total. The grades run from 5.7 up to 5.11, and the median is around 5.10-. Trad routes make up the bulk of the climbing, with four sport routes. Among the named routes are Enga's First at 5.8, Lion's Den at 5.10, and The Last Fool A-Hammerin' at 5.11, which was first climbed by Chuck and Patrica Hill. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Apache Junction show March highs around 77°F and November highs around 76°F, while July and August average in the mid-100s. That station sits well below the wall, so temperatures on the rock run cooler. The Cemetery and Barks Canyon Wall are both about 0.1 mile away, and the Cave Trail #233 is about half a mile off. For an overnight stay, Tortilla Campground is roughly 8.5 miles away.
