Southeast is a climbing area in the Superstition Wilderness, within the Mesa Ranger District of Tonto National Forest in Arizona. The Forest Service manages the land, and the area sits among several other named climbing spots, including Northwest, Lower East Wall and Miners Needle, all about 0.1 mile away. The climbing here is all trad, with five routes ranging from 5.6 to 5.8 on the YDS scale. The easiest are Too Easy and Trad Pockets, both 5.6, and the hardest is Senility at 5.8. The routes are close together, so it's easy to string a few together in one outing. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Superior, Arizona, show March highs around 72°F and November highs around 72°F, while July highs reach about 99°F. That station sits roughly 700 feet lower than the climbing area, so temperatures on the rock run a little cooler. For a break from the crag, the Whiskey and Coffee Flat hikes are each about 0.4 mile away. Tortilla Campground, about 9 miles off, offers a place to stay overnight.
