The Mustang is a climbing area on Arizona's State Trust Land, managed by the State Department of Land. It sits among a cluster of climbing spots, with The Biscuit about 1.7 miles away and Main Ampitheater about 1.8 miles away, and it works well as a base for exploring the surrounding area of climbing and hiking. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to visit. Typical averages from the nearby Ft Huachuca Pioneer Airfield weather station, which sits about 780 feet lower than the Mustang, run from highs around 77°F in April to about 79°F in October, while June and July average in the low 90s. The area offers a range of sport and mixed routes, with 19 in total. The grades run from 5.9 to 5.12a, and the hardest is Nova Super Sport, a sport route at 5.12a. Mojo, a mixed route at 5.9, and Chertin for Certain, a sport route at 5.10a, are among the options.
