Deep South is a climbing area in the Kachina Peaks Wilderness, part of the Flagstaff Ranger District of Coconino National Forest in Arizona. The Forest Service manages the land, and the area sits within designated wilderness. The climbing here is sport and trad, with five routes in total. Four are sport routes, and one is a trad route called Dream Signals. The grades run from 5.9- up to 5.11, with the median around 5.10+. The sport routes include Short Roped (5.9-), Bat & the Scorpion (5.10) and Puncture (5.11a), and the trad route Dream Signals is the only one of its style. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Ft Valley, which sits about 1,300 feet lower than the climbing area, show May highs around 71°F and October highs around 66°F, while July and August bring the most wet days. Several other climbing areas lie right next door, including Southern Walls and Middle Area, each about 0.1 mile away. Veit Spring Trail is a hike half a mile off, and Lockett Meadow Campground is about 6 miles away.
