Red Butte Trail #37 is a 3-mile out-and-back hike in Arizona's Kaibab National Forest, within the Tusayan Ranger District. The trail is managed by the Forest Service and rated hard, with an elevation gain of 899 feet one way, totaling about 1,886 feet for the round trip. The trail starts at the Red Butte Trailhead, where the elevation is about 7,271 feet. The high point of the route is 7,329 feet, and the steepest section comes early on, with a grade of about 26 percent at about 0.17 miles into the hike. The return is just as steep as the climb up. The most comfortable months for a visit are typically May and October, when typical averages from a nearby weather station at Grand Canyon run to highs around 71°F and 66°F, with lows near freezing in winter and July and August bringing the most wet days.
