The Tusayan Ranger District of the Kaibab National Forest in northern Arizona is a district of the Forest Service, not a single trail or destination. It is best approached as a base for a range of outings, including fishing, hiking and camping, with several named spots within a few miles of one another. For fishing, the district's name anchors this place. The Arizona Trail and the Tusayan Mtn Bike Loop both pass within about half a mile, and the Tusayan - Montane campground lies roughly 3.6 miles away. The El Tovar Hotel, a lake fishing spot, is about 4.8 miles off. The most comfortable months for a visit run from late spring through early fall. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show May highs around 71°F and October highs around 66°F, with July and August bringing more frequent wet days. Winter highs there hover in the mid-40s.
