Pinyon is a hard hike in the Clifton Ranger District of the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests in eastern Arizona, managed by the Forest Service. The route is an out-and-back of about 15 miles, with a one-way climb of roughly 1,876 feet from a low point of about 4,847 feet to a high of about 6,564 feet. The trail is natural-surfaced and allows both horses and bikes. It is not an accessible trail. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at a similar elevation show May highs around 77°F and October highs around 72°F, while July and August bring highs near 89°F and the most wet days of the year. Nearby hikes include Clear Creek, about 2 miles away, and Corral, about 3 miles away. For camping, Lower Juan Miller Campground and Upper Juan Miller Campground sit about 6 miles off.
