Mallet Trail is a 2-mile out-and-back hike in the Clifton Ranger District of the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests in eastern Arizona. It gains about 1,500 feet over the course of the round trip, with the high point around 7,110 feet, and the steepest stretch coming near the 0.7-mile mark at a 22% grade. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is natural-surface, open year-round and rated moderate. Bikes and horses are both allowed, but the trail is not accessible. A typical climb takes about 1.5 hours, and the route's length and gain are the same in both directions. Spring and fall are the most comfortable seasons to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station run from highs around 68°F and lows near 31°F in April to highs around 72°F and lows near 36°F in October, while July and August average about 11 or 12 wet days a month. Ad Bar is about 0.7 miles away and Bear Pen Springs about 0.9 miles, and the Pipestem and Turkey Trail hikes lie within about 2.6 miles. For an overnight stay, Upper Juan Miller Campground is about 9 miles off.
