Gleeson

Gleeson is a ghost town in southeastern Cochise County, Arizona, sitting at roughly 4,924 feet above sea level. Its roots go back to the 1870s, when the site was first settled under the name Turquoise during the Arizona Territory era. Copper became the economic engine that brought the community back to life when it was re-established and renamed Gleeson in 1900.

Visitors today find the remnants of a once-active copper town set against the open high-desert landscape of southern Arizona. The site draws travelers interested in history, photography, and the quiet atmosphere that ghost towns tend to carry. Access is generally straightforward, and the mild elevation makes it approachable for most of the year, though desert summers bring intense heat and winter months can introduce cold and occasional rough road conditions.
