Mountain View Turnout is a stop in Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming, managed by the National Park Service. It sits along the park's road network, and a fee is charged for visits. The turnout makes a good place to pause and take in the park's geology. The Teton Range may look unchanged, but it has been shaped by forces over millions of years. The mountains' rocks are hundreds of millions to billions of years old, and the Teton fault has lifted them in the last 10 million years. Ice age glaciers carved canyons and lakes, and erosion continues to sculpt the range. Earthquakes can still change the landscape. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Moran show July highs around 77°F with lows near 42°F, while winter brings highs in the mid-20s and frequent snow days. Cathedral Group Turnout is about a mile away, and Jenny Lake Lodge and the Leigh Lake Trail are each about 1.6 miles off. Climbers can find Red Cross Rock roughly 2.9 miles away.
