Josies Ridge is a 4.5-mile out-and-back hike in Russ Garaman Park, a county park in Wyoming, on land managed by the county. The trail rises from a low point of 6,147 feet to a high of 7,793 feet, with a total elevation gain of 1,647 feet. It is a moderate route, and the trail surface is natural, so plan on a rougher walk than a smooth path. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Jackson, about 2 miles away, show July highs near 79°F with lows around 41°F, and snow is common from November through April. That station sits roughly 1,600 feet below the ridge, so temperatures on the high point run cooler. The trail is open from May 1 to October 31. Bikes are allowed, so it works for a ride as well as a walk. The Kc Trail and Kellys Trail both start about 0.1 mile away, and the Jackson Ranger District offers river fishing about 1.8 miles off.
