The Washout is a bouldering area in the Wenatchee River Ranger District of the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest in Washington, managed by the Forest Service. It sits among a cluster of climbing spots, with The Carnival Boulders and Carnival Crag each about 0.1 mile away and Nosebleed about 0.2 mile off. Eightmile Group Site, a campground, is also about 0.2 mile away. The area is a bouldering destination, with nine routes all rated on the V scale. The grades range from V1 to V8+, with the median around V4-. The easiest is Humoristic at V1, and the hardest is The Lion's Den at V8+. Summer is the warmest stretch. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Leavenworth show July and August highs around 87°F with lows near 50°F and only about three wet days a month. That station sits roughly 900 feet lower than the boulders, so temperatures at the crag run cooler. Winter is cold, with January highs around 34°F and lows near 19°F. The Carnival Boulders and Carnival Crag are the closest neighbors, and Eightmile Group Site offers camping. Bruce's Boulder Trail is about 2 miles away.
