Spongebob Squarepad Boulder is a bouldering area in Washington's Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest, within the Wenatchee River Ranger District. The Forest Service manages the land. The name is a playful one, and the boulders are just as they sound: short, compact formations that sit close together. Several other named boulders lie right next to it. Rail Boulder and Hanta Man Boulder are each about 0.1 mile away, and the Snow Lakes Trail passes within about half a mile. The climbing is all bouldering, with five routes ranging from V0 to V7. The easiest is Spongebob Jam Crack, and the hardest is Krusty Pad. Spongepad Squarepad is a V3, and Spongebob Squarepad Sit Start is a V5. The most comfortable stretch for a visit runs from late spring through early fall. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Leavenworth show June highs around 77°F and September highs around 78°F, with July and August climbing to about 87°F. That station sits about 579 feet lower than the boulders, so expect temperatures on the rocks to run a little cooler. For an overnight stay, Eightmile Group Site is about 2 miles away and Bridge Creek Group Site is about 3 miles away. Peshastin Creek, roughly 6 miles off, offers paddling.
