Upper 420s is a bouldering area in Washington's Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest, within the Wenatchee River Ranger District. The Forest Service manages the land, and the spot sits among several climbing and hiking options in the same stretch of forest, with Tigerlily Boulder and Chaos Boulders both about 0.1 mile away. The area is a cluster of boulder problems, five in all, with grades ranging from V4 to V8-9. The most common is V6, and the hardest is Emu Butter. The boulders sit close to the trail network, with Bruce's Boulder Trail and Tigerlily Boulder each about 0.1 mile off. Snow Lakes Trail lies 0.8 mile away. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. At a nearby weather station, typical July and August highs average around 87°F with lows near 50°F and only about three wet days a month. That station sits roughly 405 feet lower than the boulders, so temperatures on the climbs run a bit cooler. For an overnight stay, Eightmile Group Site is about 1.9 miles away and Bridge Creek Group Site about 2.9 miles away.
