The Central Wall Area is a climbing area in the Skykomish Ranger District of Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest in Washington, managed by the Forest Service. It sits close to two other climbing spots, Lower Cheeks and The Black Sea, both about 0.1 mile away, and to the Index Town Wall Trail, roughly 0.4 mile off. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. A nearby weather station at Baring records typical July and August highs around 77°F with only about seven wet days a month, while winter brings highs in the low 40s and frequent snow days from December through February. That station sits about 520 feet below the area, so temperatures on the wall run a bit cooler. The area has 29 routes, split between 15 trad climbs, 12 sport climbs and 2 mixed routes. Grades range from 5.7 to 5.13c, with the hardest route being Adrift, a 5.13c trad climb. Among the trad routes, Gnostic Diversions and DMT are both rated 5.12, and Crying Dragon is 5.11d.
