East End Formation is a climbing area in Washington's Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area, managed by the Forest Service. It sits among several other named climbing areas, with Indian Head, Dropzone Area and The Bare Buttress all about 0.1 mile away. The area has seven routes, six of them trad and one sport, with grades ranging from 5.7 to 5.11. Silverdycke is the easiest at 5.7, and The Arete is the hardest at 5.11. The sport route, The Arete, is the only one in the area with that style. Summer is the most comfortable time to climb. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Skamania Fish Hatchery show July and August highs around 79 to 80°F with only five or six wet days a month, while winter brings highs in the mid-40s and rain on most days. Angels Rest and the High Water Trail are both about 1.7 miles away across the river in Oregon. Gordon Creek, a canoeing spot, is about 5 miles off.
