Future Cave is a bouldering area in Vermont's Manchester Ranger District, part of the Green Mountain and Finger Lakes National Forests. The Forest Service manages the land, and the climbing sits among several other named climbing areas, with Ship's Prow and Rooftopia each about 0.2 miles away. The area holds nine bouldering routes, all rated on the V scale from V3 up to V12+. The easiest is Time Travel at V3, and the hardest is Wormhole PROJECT at V12+. The median grade is V8, so the range runs from relatively easy to very challenging. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical July and August highs reach about 75°F with lows in the mid-50s, based on averages from a nearby weather station. That station sits about 565 feet lower than the cave, so temperatures here run a little cooler. For a change from bouldering, Red Mill Access and Woodford Trail are both within about 2 miles. Melville Nauheim Shelter, about 4.5 miles away, offers camping, and Harriman Reservoir, roughly 7 miles off, is a fishing destination.
