Parking Lot Area is a bouldering spot in the Salt Lake Ranger District of the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest in Utah, managed by the Forest Service. It sits in a cluster of outdoor destinations, with the Deaf Smith mountain biking area just 0.2 miles away and the North Fork Deaf Smith Canyon Trail about half a mile off. The closest climbing is Outer Canyon, roughly 0.8 miles away. The area is a bouldering destination, with four boulder problems on record. They range from V3 to V7-8, with Honk my Horn at V4 and The Great Escape Sit at V7-8. The boulders are the main draw here, and the surrounding trails and bike route make it easy to pair a climbing session with a ride or a walk. For comfortable weather, late spring and early fall are the sweet spots. Typical averages from the nearby Cottonwood Weir weather station show May highs around 71°F and September highs near 79°F, while July averages climb to about 91°F. That station sits roughly 1,300 feet lower than the boulders, so temperatures on the rock run cooler. Tanners Flat Campground is about 4 miles away, and Lake Lillian offers fishing a little farther out.
