The Air Strip is a climbing area in the Escalante Ranger District of Dixie National Forest in southern Utah, managed by the Forest Service. It sits among a cluster of climbing spots, with Shangri La about 0.2 miles away and The Research Station about 0.3 miles away, and it is a base for alpine-style routes that range from about 5.6 to 5.11-. The area has 27 routes, all alpine in style. The easiest is Student Pilot at 5.6, and the hardest is Propeller Blades at 5.11-. Other routes include Tarmac Debris at 5.8+, Deicing at 5.9+ and Hangar Shadow at 5.10d. The first ascents of these routes are listed, with names like R. Suggett and A. Ross for Student Pilot and A. Mollard and R. Suggett for Propeller Blades. Banshee Wall is about a mile away. For a longer outing, the Great Western Trail - Utah is about 3.3 miles off, Pine Lake Campground is about 3.6 miles away, and Round Willow Bottom offers lake fishing about 9.4 miles from the area.
