Smithfield Canyon is a hard hike in the Logan Ranger District of Utah's Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest, about 11.5 miles long with a one-way elevation gain of 3,083 feet. The trail climbs from about 6,019 feet to 9,112 feet on an out-and-back route. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is natural-surfaced and not accessible. The trail is rated hard, and it is not open to bikes. Horses are allowed. For supplies and a place to stay, Smithfield Campground sits about 2 miles away. Birch Canyon and the Birch Canyon Trail are also about 1.9 miles off. Tony Grove Lake Campground, roughly 4.3 miles away, is another nearby camping option.
