Smithfield Campground is a Forest Service campground in Smithfield Canyon, 12.4 miles northeast of Logan, Utah, on the Logan Ranger District of the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest. It sits at about 5,500 feet. Vault toilets are the only facility listed, and a fee is charged for stays. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Richmond, Utah, show July highs around 89°F with lows near 56°F, while winter brings highs in the low 30s and regular snow days from December through February. That station sits roughly 700 feet lower, so temperatures at the campground run a bit cooler. Birch Canyon and the Birch Canyon Trail are both within about a mile, and the Smithfield Canyon hike is about 2 miles away. Tony Grove Lake Campground is about 6 miles off.
