Old Juniper Shady Route is a short, easy out-and-back hike in the Logan Ranger District of the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest in northern Utah. The trail is about 1.3 miles long, with a low point of 7,024 feet and a high of 7,167 feet, and it gains about 128 feet of elevation. The Forest Service manages the land, and the route is open from June 1 through October 31. The trail is natural-surfaced and allows both horses and bikes. It is not an accessible route. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Laketown, which sits about 1,200 feet lower, show July highs around 81°F with lows near 51°F, and September highs around 70°F. Winter is cold and snowy, with January highs near 30°F and snow on about seven days that month. The route sits close to several other destinations. Utopia and Wall of Colors are climbing areas about half a mile away, and Cottonwood Canyon Trail is also about half a mile off. Wood Camp Campground is about 1.4 miles away.
