Poison Canyon Overlook is a moderate out-and-back hike in the Monticello Ranger District of Manti-La Sal National Forest in Utah, managed by the Forest Service. The trail is about 4 miles long, with a one-way elevation gain of 564 feet, and it rises from a low point of about 8,140 feet to a high point of about 8,711 feet. The route is natural-surfaced and allows bikes, so it works for hikers and riders alike. It stays open year-round, and the Forest Service lists it as a trail in the national forest system. For comfortable weather, late spring and early fall are the sweet spots. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Monticello show May highs around 67°F and September highs around 74°F, though that station sits well below the trail, so temperatures on the overlook run cooler.
