Hard Scrabble Trail is a 12.6-mile out-and-back hike in the Pine Valley Ranger District of Dixie National Forest in Utah, managed by the Forest Service. It's a hard trail, with a total elevation gain of 2,729 feet, and the natural-surface route allows bikes. The trail starts at about 4,867 feet and climbs to about 6,664 feet. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from the nearby Enterprise weather station show May highs around 73°F and September highs around 81°F, while July highs reach about 90°F and winter brings lows near 17°F. Baker Dam Campground sits about 4 miles away, and the Mountain Meadow Monument Trail and Blue Spring Trail are each within about 4 miles. Climbers can find the 8 Mile area roughly 5 miles off.
