Dougherty Basin Trail is an easy hike of about 1.6 miles on natural surface, set in the Escalante Ranger District of Dixie National Forest in southern Utah. The trail is an out-and-back, rising about 170 feet from a low of roughly 9,569 feet to a high of about 9,747 feet. The route works well for a short outing. Bikes and horses are both allowed, which makes it easy to pair with a ride or a pack trip. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail stays open from about May through October. The trail sits right beside the Great Western Trail - Barker Section, and Upper Barker Reservoir is just 0.1 mile away. Lower Barker Reservoir and the Barker Recreation Area campground are within a mile.
