The Dihedrals is a climbing area in Tennessee's South Cumberland, a cluster of crags and routes that sit close together in the high country. It is a compact, sport-focused destination, with 11 routes in total, 10 of them sport and one trad, and the grades run from 5.8 up to 5.13a. The Dihedral, a trad route, is the oldest of the bunch, with a first ascent in 1992 by Roger Marlowe and Tom Kenny. The most comfortable months for a visit are late spring and early fall. Typical averages from the nearby Monteagle weather station show May highs around 74°F and September highs around 78°F, with October and November cooling to the upper 50s and lower 60s. Several other climbing areas lie within a short walk. Jimmywood, The Left Bunker and the Gutbuster Area are all about 0.1 mile away. The Fiery Gizzard Trail is half a mile off for a hike.
