It sits along the French Broad River, with the river's fishing area just 0.3 miles away. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to visit. Typical averages from the nearby Hot Springs, NC weather station show October highs around 72°F with lows near 47°F, and April highs around 71°F. Summer runs hotter, with July highs near 87°F.
