Cannabis Boulder (AKA The Lower Slab)

Cannabis Boulder, also known as The Lower Slab, is a climbing area in Pennsylvania, about half a mile from the town of Breakneck. It sits among several other named climbing areas, including the Right Wall, Breakneck and Main Wall, all within a tenth of a mile. The area is a sport climbing spot with six routes, the easiest at 5.5 and the hardest at 5.10a. The routes include Cannabis and Touch of Green, both 5.5s, and The Right Spice at 5.10a. The climbing here is relatively close together, so the whole slab can be covered in one short visit. Late spring and early fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Connellsville run to highs around 73°F in May and 77°F in September, while winter brings highs in the upper 30s and a few snow days a month. For time off the rock, the West Overton Village Trail is about 5.6 miles away and the Mitchell Trail about 8.5 miles. Mountain Pines Campground, roughly 9.6 miles out, offers a place to stay.
