Windy Slab is a climbing area in Oregon's Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area, managed by the Forest Service. It sits within the scenic corridor that straddles the river, and its routes range from trad and sport climbing to top rope, with grades from 5.3 up to 5.10d. The area has 10 routes in total, with five sport routes, three trad routes and two top rope routes. Among the named routes are The Steppes, a 5.3 trad climb, and Heatwave, a 5.10d top rope. The hardest route, Heatwave, is a top rope, while the sport routes include Night Music at 5.6 and Braille at 5.10a. Summer is the warmest stretch for a visit. Typical averages from the nearby Cascade Locks weather station run from highs around 73°F in June to about 82°F in August, with lows in the mid-50s. Winter is much colder, with January highs near 42°F and lows around 33°F. Wyeth Campground and the Historic 1876 Wagon Road are both about 1.2 miles away, and Wind Mountain Trail is 0.8 miles off. Babylon Boulder, a climbing area across the river in Washington, is about 2.9 miles away.
