Root Down is a mountain biking route in Oregon's Siuslaw National Forest, within the Central Coast Ranger District-ODNRA. It is a short out-and-back ride of about 1.2 miles, with a total climb of roughly 980 feet from the low point at 1,007 feet to the high at 1,492 feet. The route is rated moderate, and the steepest stretch comes at about 0.35 miles in, with a grade of 28 percent. Summer is the most comfortable time to ride. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Corvallis show July and August highs around 82 to 83°F with only about four wet days a month, while winter months bring highs in the mid-40s and rain on more than 20 days. That station sits about 900 feet lower than the route's high point, so temperatures on the climb run cooler. Carl's Adventure, another mountain biking route, lies just 0.1 mile away, and the Mohawk and Collarbone Alley hikes are each about 0.2 mile off. For an overnight stay, Marys Peak Campground is about 4.2 miles away.
