Swan Lake Point is a long, high out-and-back hike in Oregon's Fremont-Winema National Forest, on the Chiloquin Ranger District. The trail stretches about 23 miles, and the climb is front-loaded, with the steepest stretch around mile 11. That section reaches a grade of about 13%, and the high point sits at 7,234 feet. The route starts at roughly 5,000 feet and climbs to that peak before returning, with a total gain and loss of about 2,877 feet for the whole trip. The Forest Service manages the land. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Crater Lake show July and August highs around 69°F with only about four wet days a month. That station sits about 750 feet lower than the trail's high point, so temperatures up top run cooler. The trip takes about nine hours. Other hikes in the area include Old Eagle and Shoalwater, both about 8 miles away, and Winema at about 9 miles.
