Silver Creek is a 6.2-mile out-and-back hike in the Wild Rivers Ranger District of the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forests in southern Oregon. The trail rises from a low point of 1,390 feet to a high of 2,372 feet, with a total elevation gain of 4,285 feet over the round trip. The climb is steady, and the steepest stretch comes early, at about 0.22 miles in, with a grade of nearly 60 percent. The trail is on natural surface and is not accessible. Bikes and horses are not allowed. Late spring and early fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Cave Junction show May highs around 76°F and September highs around 87°F, while July and August average about 94°F. That station sits roughly 1,000 feet lower than the trail's high point, so temperatures up top run cooler. The hike is open from June 1 to October 31, and the estimated time is about four hours. Silver Falls Overlook and Dutchy Creek are both within a mile, and Little Silver Lake is about 1.8 miles away. For an overnight stay, Big Pine campground is about 5.4 miles off.
