Rockpile Lake is an easy out-and-back hike of about 1.9 miles in the Mount Jefferson Wilderness, part of the Sisters Ranger District of Deschutes National Forest in Oregon. The trail rises from about 5,229 feet to a high point of 5,565 feet, with a total elevation gain of 704 feet for the round trip. The climb is steepest near the 0.8-mile mark, where the grade reaches about 13 percent. The route is on natural surface, and horses are allowed. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is open year-round. Plan on about an hour for the trip. Rockpile Lake Trail #4005 lies about 0.9 miles away, and Brush Creek Trail is about 1.2 miles off. For an overnight stay, Jack Creek Campground is about 5.4 miles away, and the Oregon Volcanoes climbing area is about 7.3 miles away.
