Rock Creek 917 is an easy out-and-back hike in Oregon's Mt. Hood National Forest, within the Barlow Ranger District. The trail is about 2.4 miles long, with a total elevation gain of 417 feet, and it is managed by the Forest Service. The route starts at a low point of about 3,391 feet and climbs to a high of about 3,678 feet before returning. The climb is gentle, and the trail is natural-surfaced, so it moves easily underfoot. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from the nearby Government Camp weather station show July and August highs around 70°F with only about four wet days a month, while winter months bring highs in the mid-30s and rain on most days. The hike takes about an hour. Rock Creek 915 and Rock Creek 925 are both within about a mile and a quarter, and Forest Creek campground is about 3 miles away.
