The climb is moderate, and the steepest stretch comes at about 0.9 miles in, where the grade reaches 17 percent. Late spring and early fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in McMinnville show May highs around 70°F and September highs around 77°F, while July and August average about 83°F. That station sits roughly 540 feet lower than the trail's high point, so temperatures on the loop run cooler. The hike takes about two hours.
